This series represents six characters the artist created with an AI programme in 2022 during her residency at Fonderie Darling, Montreal. They are facing the viewers in classical portrait postures, but it is not clear whether they are human wearing masks, anthropomorphic animals or hybrid beings, if they are wearing or growing feathers, wings, gloves or long fur coats. The images have a theatrical quality to them but they could also be fashion shoots. The velvet they are printing on is softening the typical blurriness of AI images and at the same time could be the fabric they are wearing or even made of, inviting the hands to touch it. They are awkward and at the same time familiar, as they come from the interaction of images we have seen before. If grounds and backgrounds tend to place them in a recognizable physical space, they may also exist as one of many species evolving in the web environment. This series is part of a larger project involving AI including her series of saturated portraits for 'I Am Not A woman' at Cocotte, Treignac, as well as the videos included in 'Are You Alone' at Galerie Joseph Tang, Paris.
